RBPU NSS Volunteers Conduct Independence Day & ESR Activity at Bahadurpur Bhaian Village

Rayat Bahra Professional University, Hoshiarpur, organized a meaningful Independence Day Celebration and Education Social Responsibility (ESR) activity at Government Model High School, Bahadurpur Bhaian Village, on 13 August 2026.

As part of the nationwide “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign and Independence Day celebrations observed from 9 August to 17 August 2026, a team of 52 NSS volunteer students from Rayat Bahra Professional University participated in the educational and social outreach programme.

The initiative was organized with the objective of promoting patriotism, social responsibility, respect for elders, environmental awareness and value-based education among young students and members of the village community.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Chandermohan Motivates NSS Volunteers

Before the departure of the NSS volunteers, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Rayat Bahra Professional University, Dr. Chandermohan, addressed and motivated the students regarding their responsibilities towards the National Service Scheme (NSS) and the significance of Independence Day.

He emphasized that NSS is not merely a programme but an opportunity for students to serve society, contribute positively to their communities and develop a strong sense of responsibility towards the nation. He encouraged the volunteers to understand the true meaning of freedom and celebrate Independence Day through meaningful social service and responsible citizenship.

At around 10:00 AM, Dr. Chandermohan flagged off the NSS volunteers for Government Model High School, Bahadurpur Bhaian, in the Rayat Bahra Professional University bus, accompanied by the concerned NSS Programme Officers and coordinators.

RBPU NSS Team and Volunteers Participate in the Programme

The University NSS team was represented by NSS Programme Coordinator Dr. Pallavi Pandit, NSS Programme Officers Dr. Pooja Verma and Mr. Jitendra Kumar, along with School-wise NSS Coordinators Madam Jasneet Kaur and Madam Priyanka.

A total of 52 NSS volunteers from different University Schools participated in the programme, including students from:

• University School of Social, Liberal and Environmental Sciences
• University School of Law
• University School of Fashion Designing
• University School of Commerce and Finance

The NSS volunteers interacted with students of Classes VI to X in the presence of Sarpanch Shri Mangi Lal Ji, Headmistress Madam Parveen Ji, the Fine Arts teacher and other teaching staff.

Patriotic Performances Inspire Young Students

The spirit of Independence Day was celebrated through a series of engaging and inspiring activities, including:

• Patriotic speeches
• Patriotic songs
• Self-written patriotic poems
• Patriotic dance performances

During the interaction, the NSS volunteers explained that the true meaning of freedom is not limited to freedom from foreign rule. True freedom also means building a society where women and girls feel safe, cleanliness is maintained, the environment is protected, and India’s rich culture, heritage and traditions are preserved with pride.

The school students were encouraged to recognize their role as the energetic future of the nation. The volunteers motivated them to channel their energy in the right direction and work towards bringing honour to their school, village, district, state and the nation.

Special ESR Initiative to Honour Women Caring for Elderly Family Members

One of the most meaningful highlights of the programme was the presence of 13 women from Bahadurpur Bhaian Village, who were brought to the programme by Sarpanch Shri Mangi Lal Ji.

These women have been continuously caring for and serving their elderly family members with dedication, love and compassion.

Through this special initiative under the Education Social Responsibility (ESR) Wing, the Rayat Bahra Professional University NSS Unit conveyed an important message to students, teachers and members of the village community that parents and elderly family members deserve care, respect and responsibility from their families and society.

The programme also highlighted the message continuously promoted under the Education Social Responsibility Wing by Shri Avinash Rai Khanna Ji, former Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, emphasizing the responsibility of every individual towards parents and elderly members of society.

As a mark of appreciation for their selfless service and dedication, the 13 women were honoured with mementos by the NSS volunteers of Rayat Bahra Professional University.

Tree Plantation Promotes Environmental and Social Responsibility

Following the conclusion of the programme, all participants collectively sang the National Anthem, “Jana Gana Mana.”

The honoured women then participated in a tree plantation activity, further strengthening the message of environmental responsibility.

The plantation symbolized an important value-based message: just as trees require continuous care and protection to grow, elderly people, families and society also require love, care, respect and responsibility.

Government Model High School Appreciates RBPU NSS Initiative

Headmistress Madam Parveen Ji, along with the teachers of Government Model High School, appreciated the meaningful initiative undertaken by the Rayat Bahra Professional University NSS Unit.

She encouraged the University to continue organizing such educational, social and awareness-based programmes for students and the community. The school authorities also expressed their wholehearted support and willingness to welcome the RBPU NSS Unit for future activities.

The cooperation and support extended by Sarpanch Shri Mangi Lal Ji, the Headmistress, the Fine Arts teacher, other teachers and students contributed significantly to making the programme successful and meaningful.

Promoting Patriotism, Social Service and Community Responsibility

The programme successfully brought together the spirit of Independence Day, Har Ghar Tiranga, National Service Scheme (NSS), Education Social Responsibility (ESR), respect for elders, environmental awareness and value-based education.

The participation of 52 NSS volunteers, the guidance and motivation of Vice Chancellor Dr. Chandermohan, the support of the University NSS team, the cooperation of the school authorities and village leadership, and the presence of women dedicated to caring for elderly family members made the initiative a memorable and socially meaningful programme of Rayat Bahra Professional University, Hoshiarpur.

The activity conveyed a powerful message to the younger generation that true freedom comes with responsibility—responsibility towards parents and elders, women and girls, cleanliness, the environment, culture, heritage and the collective effort to build a better society and a stronger nation.

Rayat Bahra Professional University continues to promote holistic education by encouraging students to move beyond classrooms and actively contribute towards social welfare, community development and nation-building through initiatives under NSS and Education Social Responsibility.
